How Much Is Purple Haze

Oh, dear Augustin ...

Am I really the only one who did not know that Oh, du lieber Augustin is a Pestlied?

And not only that there are two verses? Censorship in children's songbooks - mess!

first Verse
O, du lieber Augustin,
Augustin, Augustin,
o du lieber Augustin, is
infinity.
money is gone, is gone Mäd'l,
all gone, all gone,
o, dear Augustin, everything is gone.

second Verse
O, du lieber Augustin ...
Rock is gone, staff is gone, Augustin
lies in the dirt,
o you prefer Augustin, everything is gone.

third Verse
O, du lieber Augustin ...
And even the rich Vienna,
's gone is like Augustin;
cries out to me in the same sense, everything is.

4th Verse
O, du lieber Augustin ...
Every day was a feast,
and what now? Plague, the plague!
Only the corpses, which is the rest

5th Verse
O, du lieber Augustin ...
Augustin, Augustin, but to the grave
leg down!
O, du lieber Augustin is, everything is gone.

Another known Kinderpestlied me (nice word) is Ring a ring o 'roses . Where this is clearly more subtle (and also controversial, I think).

Ring a ring o 'roses,
A Pocketful of Posies.
a-tishoo!, A-tishoo!. We all fall down
.
